A film from the ITV regional programme collection held at MACE is to be released on DVD to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the demolition of Stoke City FC's Victoria Ground. 'Shouts for City!' was produced by ATV in 1975 for transmission in the Midlands. A documentary about Stoke City, its players and supporters, the film includes interviews with football giants such as Jimmy Greenhoff, Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton. Also included are interviews with fans, both on the terraces of the Victoria Ground and at home. Sue Jay meets the players, staff and supporters of Stoke City football club. Reporter Sue Jay interviews fans at the Victoria Ground on match day, the home of Stoke City football club. She then visits the home of Rosemary and Peter Bough who with their three children are keen supporters of the club. On Stoke's training ground Sue interviews players Peter Shilton, Jimmy Greenhoff and Alan Hudson. We see the players training, match action and then the empty Victoria Ground and the streets surrounding the ground. Sue then conducts interviews with more fans including: elderly supporter Fred Trimble who has attended matches since 1913 and Zigger Zagger (John Bayley) whose nickname comes from his famous chant; manager Tony Waddington; trainer Alan Aycock; former player Freddie Steele; former goalkeeper turned youth trainer Gordon Banks; and youth player Garth Crooks. We see Banks training with the youth team. Stoke's most famous player Stanley Matthews is shown playing for England. Members of the current squad and their physio are then interviewed about their injuries and we see the players in their post-match bath. (The player who has broken his leg is Jimmy Robertson). Finally Sue visits a sports shop where she buys a selection of Stoke City memorabilia and she goes to a match with the Bough family.
