A Rangers Fans Upbeat View On Scoreless Draw Away At Celtic

Posted by Andrew McNair in RangersCeltic

Having decided not to write a match report on today's Old Firm derby as it was a rather even contest (as far as goals scored were concerned anyway), I decided to read through a couple of Rangers forums and see where my views lay in comparison to other Rangers fans.

I was fully expecting Walter Smith to play 4-5-1 but had been hoping that "one" was not Kyle Lafferty. Having watched him play upfront on his own against AC Milan, it was apparent that he couldn't win a header or continuously hold the ball up.

For some to say that Lafferty got no service during the Celtic game was laughable, as it was clear early on that nothing played into him was going to stick and holding onto the ball by other means was the way to go.

I'm certainly not saying Kris Boyd would have definitely done a better job, as he probably wouldn't but he would have won more headers and might have been there and there abouts for a half chance.

There was a lot of talk about Barry Ferguson passing sideways and how terrible he was but when there is one man ahead of you and two to either side, then surely you are going to pass sideways more often? The fact that anything played to Lafferty was coming straight back must have alluded some people.

Rangers vs AC Milan: The Fallout and Divisions

Posted by Andrew McNair in Rangers

I was at Ibrox on Wednesday night to watch Rangers take on AC Milan along with 45,000 other loyal fans but it appears my seat offered a different view to most.

At first, I decided that there was nothing to write home about after the game. Rangers played well, everyone got a run and a few promising players made an impact but none of it really mattered.

Getting a result at Celtic Park is all that mattered.

That was before someone posted one pro Kyle Lafferty thread too many. The Northern Irishman started upfront on his own against Milan and put himself about a bit but that was it. I saw nothing that said "this man will beat Celtic for us."

Now let me just clarify that I have nothing against Lafferty, he is an honest hard working lad like so many of the members of the current Rangers squad but why does he suddenly get praise for the same technique that others get castrated for?

Rangers and Scotland's Kirk Broadfoot Deserves Respect

Posted by Andrew McNair in SPLScotlandRangers

Let's face it, Rangers fans couldn't agree on the colour of shite these days (no, it is not green, not in this context anyway). I'm also wondering if some of us even know what shit is?

Kirk Broadfoot is not shit, Kirk Broadfoot is not brilliant but Kirk Broadfoot is an honest player. Not a first division player as some people would have you believe but a decent Scottish Premier League player who does a top job for Rangers.

All we hear all the time is how bad a player he is and I'm fed up with it, no one has ever said he is a great player, no one has ever expected the sun to shine from his big feet but I do expect him to get respect.

Alan Hutton is gone but some people are struggling to face up to that.

News Flash: Hutton has hardly played since leaving Rangers, we got a great deal.

The Day I Realised Stars Are Just People

As we pull up to the gates of Murray Park, my nerves are getting to me. I've never been the "star struck" type but this is the work place of my beloved Glasgow Rangers.

Upon walking in the first team entrance, I spotted Artur Numan holding up the wall and was instantly "star struck". Wow Artur Numan, I thought, until I spotted his cow boy boots. What a bummer, my hero is in love with John Wayne.

Standing by reception, is small man in a leather coat, he is clearly agitated about something. A rather bruising looking Rangers "driver" waits to take Shota Arveladze home but as with all walks of life, you just can't get some people out the door.

One can't blame him mind, who would want to leave Murray Park? It is a fantastic venue, one Rangers used to use as bait when snaring or was it attracting quality to Ibrox?

Bert Konterman hangs around reception waiting for a class of school kids. The big Dutchman it appears has been nominated for public relations duty. You could almost feel sorry for him, it is the most responsibility Rangers have given him in a while but it was the kids I felt most sorry for.
